MILFORD -- June 29, 2026, Milford Select Board approves three alcohol licenses and votes to move the inspections department out of Town Hall. The board voted unanimously June 29 to relocate the building department to the water department building on Diller Street, with Town Administrator Richard Villani estimating the cost at under $10,000, an alternative to a capital plan option that had contemplated spending several million dollars on a separate building. Villani told the board the Civil War-era Town Hall "never added to the footprint" despite 160 years of growing services, leaving eight building department employees and daily contractor traffic competing with residents for parking. On liquor licenses, the board approved a transfer for the Sonesta Select Boston Milford hotel and re-approved a previously returned application for 140 Barman Grill; a new package store license for YUGD, LLC at 146 South Main Street passed 2-1, with one member dissenting over a desire for more site detail, after the applicant's attorney confirmed the move would keep Milford's active package store count unchanged by surrendering a legislative license at 134 South Main Street. Craft Roots Brewing owner Hugh Leahy appeared informally to announce plans to expand into an 8,800-square-foot space at Milford Square, with a full kitchen and a potential wine license, targeting a spring 2027 opening.
