Milford Select Board Continues Sorrento License Hearing, Approves National Grid Pole

Select Board · Meeting of July 13, 2026

Milford Select Board approves National Grid pole, continues restaurant license hearing, and flags downtown concerns. The board voted unanimously at its July 13 meeting to approve a petition by Massachusetts Electric Company doing business as National Grid and Verizon New England to install a joint-ownership pole on West Street to serve a new residence at 290 West Street. A public hearing on Nuvo Sorrento LLC's application to transfer an all-alcoholic license from Sabatino Sorrento Incorporated, along with applications for a new common victualer's license and entertainment license with proposed manager Arthur Luz Sousa, was continued unanimously to July 27 after no applicant representative appeared.

Member Michael K. Walsh cited plywood-covered storefronts and broken windows on Main Street, saying "I don't want the public to think that we're turning a blind eye to downtown," and Town Administrator Richard A. Villani suggested the newly formed Economic Development Council could take the lead on reviving a previously funded but dormant downtown partnership.

Walsh also floated forming a committee to plan Milford's 250th anniversary, estimated four years out, and invited interested residents to contact the Select Board office.
