Milford Select Board Approves Waste Contract Talks, Youth Center Floor in Busy Session

MILFORD — June 1, 2026 — Milford Select Board authorized waste contract negotiations, approved a slate of licenses, and awarded a $20,000 Youth Center flooring contract at its June 1 meeting. Director of Public Health Amanda M. Wilson was approved to join roughly 30 municipalities in a shared legal effort — led by the town of Walpole and the firm KP Law — to renegotiate Milford's waste disposal contract with Wind Waste Innovations before it expires in December 2026; in the last round of collective bargaining, the tipping fee dropped from $96 to $64 per ton, and the current rate is $75 per ton. Tally Floors Incorporated of North Bellingham was awarded the sole bid of $20,000 for flooring in the Milford Youth Center's entryway and kitchen, timed for a July closure window. The board also approved a Chapter 148 propane tank amendment for Camp Rosetta of Milford at 513 Cape Road subject to fire chief conditions, issued common victualer's licenses to Nostira Brunch and Tap LLC and two other restaurants, approved a one-day beer license for the No Fame Games Celtic athletic competition at Fino Field on June 13, and accepted a $25,000 state earmark secured by Senator Becker-Rausch for Town Hall accessibility improvements. Finance Committee member Vincent Valasio's resignation after 23 years of service and the appointment of Marsha H. Mancuso to the Historical Commission were also approved.
