Milford Select Board unanimously approves all-way stop grant and hears extended Stage Four water crisis briefing. The board voted Monday to authorize Town Administrator Richard A. Villani Esq. to sign a state memorandum of agreement converting the Congress Street and West Walnut Street intersection to an all-way stop, with MassDOT covering all construction, signage, and lighting costs.

Police Chief Tacino said the change addresses long-standing safety concerns near Town Park and Memorial School, where a crossing guard was struck by a vehicle in recent years. Milford Water Company General Manager Dave Connery told the board that Echo Lake reached its lowest recorded level in data going back to 1995, and that the town's Godfrey Brook well field — taken offline due to PFAS contamination — is not expected to return to service until the end of 2027. Connery confirmed that a water-sharing arrangement with Bellingham, which had provided up to 300,000 gallons per day over the winter, ended at the start of May, and that Milford is now on its own water supply under a Stage Four ban with fines reaching $1,000 for repeat violators.
