Select Board OKs Slick City, Retiree Health Switch
Other Committee · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Milford Select Board approves Slick City and switches retiree health insurance to save $560,000. Human Resources Director Kristen Melpignano told the board the Insurance Advisory Committee voted unanimously to move retirees to the United American Benestar plan, calling it "a sea change for us" after years with Blue Cross Blue Shield. The board also approved common victualler's and automatic amusement licenses for Evermore Velocity LLC's Slick City entertainment venue at 31 Beaver Street, a 35,000-square-foot facility that will be the first Slick City in New England.
Separately, the board approved a National Grid utility pole on Depot Street and reported a $25,000 state earmark for town hall accessibility, credited to Sen. Becca Rausch. A Lynn Lane resident asked for a "no littering" sign, saying the problem "is just getting worse and worse as Milford has grown." The Milford Cultural Council member-removal request was tabled pending a town counsel opinion.
