Planning Board Sends Zoning Amendments to Town Meeting

Planning Board · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Milford Planning Board sends three zoning bylaw amendments to Town Meeting, backs solar expansion. The board voted unanimously to recommend updates to Sections 1.9 and 1.4.5 and to Article 3, Section 3.1 of the Milford Zoning Bylaws, aligning local rules with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40A on variances, permit time limits and non-conforming structures. Town Planner Matthew Benoit recommended approval on all three, saying he would "recommend affirmative action at town meeting." The board also approved Phase 2 of a solar canopy project at 5 Technology Drive for Waters Corporation, a 1.4-megawatt system expected to cover 6 percent of the company's usage against a combined annual electric bill of $3.8 million.

The board separately voted to ask the state for stormwater cooperation on a 2.5-acre surplus parcel slated for housing off Highland Street, and split 3-2 to recommend a parking-use change at Al's Auto amid unresolved zoning violations elsewhere on the site.
