Milford School Committee Approves $1.7 Million Warrant, Handbooks, and Italy Trip

MILFORD — June 11, 2026 — Milford School Committee approves $1.7 million warrant and moves Nature's Classroom program to fifth grade. The committee voted unanimously at its June 11 meeting to approve a warrant for $1,724,889.87 as part of a consent agenda that also included grant approvals and an e-waste surplus declaration. Superintendent Craig reported that participation in the Nature's Classroom overnight program dropped from 150 students in 2021 to 85 last year, prompting a plan to shift the trip from Stacey Middle School to fifth graders at Woodland Elementary, with a shorter two-day format expected to reduce costs from roughly $500-$600 to approximately $300-$400 per student. The committee also voted unanimously to approve out-of-state travel requests for a Milford High School trip to Italy in February 2027 and a Title III-funded staff conference in New Mexico in November 2026. On the MSBA building project, committee member Chris reported that two construction management firms — including Consigli Construction — met the minimum threshold for a required site walkthrough, with interviews scheduled for the following week.
