Milford School Committee Gives Superintendent Consigli Proficient Rating in First Evaluation

Milford School Committee unanimously rated Superintendent Dr. Craig Consigli "proficient" in his first annual evaluation and approved a revised memorandum of understanding with Milford TV at its July 23 meeting. The evaluation praised Consigli for building a new executive cabinet, negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with the Milford Education Association, and navigating what the document called "the most challenging budget season the district has faced in recent memory," while flagging sustained focus on multi-year literacy goals as an area for growth.

The committee also received enrollment data showing special education enrollment has reached a district record of 860 students — nearly 20 percent of total enrollment and above 30 percent at Woodland Elementary — even as overall district enrollment fell by more than 200 students in the past year to approximately 4,200. The committee introduced Sam Constant, the district's first-ever director of human resources, who comes from Cambridge Public Schools and holds three master's degrees; 13 district vacancies remain open ahead of the first day of school. The FY26 budget is closing with a remaining balance of approximately $29,000, with the assistant superintendent aiming to spend it down to zero through classroom and building improvements including newly installed vape detection devices and a refloored Memorial School.
