Town Meeting · Meeting of February 9, 2026

Milford Town Meeting unanimously approved taking 6 Park Terrace by eminent domain for $620,000 to expand police department parking. The funding combines $505,000 recovered from a prior Central Street property sale and $115,000 from the excess and deficiency fund, requiring no new taxes. Select Board member Richard Villani said the town's $520,000 appraisal-based offer was rejected as "significantly low" after the seller fielded outside bids of $620,000 and $610,000 that both fell through.

Attorney O'Loughlin said the house has sat vacant eight months and displaces no residents. Member Mike Visconti warned against repeating the town's "bypass road fiasco" of missed land deals, while Dave Consigley cited officer safety and a softening multifamily market. The vote met the two-thirds threshold under Chapter 40, Section 14.
