Select Board approves FY27 budgets despite public safety staffing concerns
Select Board · Meeting of April 6, 2026
Milford Select Board approves FY2027 Fire and Police budgets amid staffing reductions. Chairman Thomas J. O'Loughlin and members Michael K.
Walsh and Paul A. Mazzuchelli voted unanimously. Fire Chief Mark Nelson reported leaving two firefighter positions unfilled and reducing overtime funding to stay within budget parameters, cutting one firefighter from day shift operations.
Police Chief Robert Tusino noted his budget is entirely contractual and said he reviews it weekly to stay on track. O'Loughlin expressed concern that the board is cutting services, not just the budget, with members noting that public safety results depend on manpower.
